Comedienne – as Martha Marie

One of the classic things about Rita’s Martha Marie character is the manner in which she makes a habit of popping up in the most unlikely places. Here, Martha Marie makes a surprise appearance at a Blessed Marriage Seminar where she proceeds to kindly yet firmly give the audience a piece of her mind on marriage.

Asked to speak at a Single Mom’s event for Mother’s Day, Rita prepared a message close to her own heart. As the third of four children raised by her mother, also a single mom, feelings went deep toward the end of the hour when humor came full circle to emphasize the importance of giving our children, as well as all those around us, the blessed gift of pleasant words.

No matter where she appears, whether working in comedy or speaking, Rita is sure to incorporate a lot of music into all her engagements. By taking popular selections from a vast array of originals by well-known artists such as Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and others, she enjoys rewriting the tunes into parody songs that fit perfectly into any number of group settings. And after the parodies, you’re likely to be revived through a more cherished hymn or other beloved melody. Regardless of the venue or setting, you’re sure to go away humming.
